Edward Haberek Jr.'s Bio:
Dr. Haberek is Director & Associate Professor of Business in the Graduate School for Florida Institute of Technology; Aberdeen MD Campus. He also serves as Adjunct Faculty at University of Maryland University College
Dr. Haberek was formerly Head of College and Chief Administrative Officer of Academy of Interactive Entertainment in Seattle WA. He led the College in all areas of management, academics, admissions and program operations. His accomplishments included creating a Student Services Dept., developing a career resources program, doubling 2015 Fall Admissions enrollments and solidifying relationships with Microsoft, Amazon and Pixar Studios
Dr Haberek also previously served as Academic Director/ Associate Professor of the Marketing Department in the School of Business Administration and Legal Studies at Briarwood College (now Lincoln College of New England) in Southington, CT. He also taught as an Adjunct Business Faculty Instructor at several Connecticut State Universities, Private Colleges, and Online Institutions. He is the recipient of Faculty Service Award from Colorado Technical University and several Who’s Who Among America’s Teachers.
Dr. Haberek’s government includes serving as First Selectman (i.e. Mayor) in the Town of Stonington, CT. He was elected in 2007 and re-elected in 2009, 2011, & 2013. His accomplishments during these 7 years include completing 3 designed & completed streetscapes, weathering 5 natural disasters in town, recruiting 2 new employers to the community, miles of new roads reconstructed. He was the recipient of numerous awards including Connecticut Farm Bureau Award and Northeastern Economic Developers Association.
In addition, Dr. Haberek attended the Ash Center for Democratic Governance and Innovation at Harvard Kennedy School and is a Certified Economic Development Professional from Northeastern Economic Developers Association and a Certified Business Retention & Expansion Professional from Business Retention & Expansion International. He served as Chair of the Eastern Workforce Investment Board and initiated international economic and governmental relations with cities in Canada, China and Philippines.
Dr. Haberek’s business experience includes working for several Fortune 500 companies including Becton Dickinson and DuPont. His proficiency includes the fields of executive management, sales, marketing, and training. His business experience also included work as Director of Sales and Marketing for North America for Bollore, one of the top 200 ranking European corporations. Dr. Haberek assisted in launching several new products to market, initiated new industry avenues, and received several sales and marketing awards.
A continuous learner, Dr. Haberek holds a Bachelor’s of Science from Southern Vermont College, a Master’s in Business Administration from Johnson & Wales University, Advanced Certificate in Graduate Studies (C.A.G.S.) in Business Administration from Touro University International and a Doctor of Philosophy. in Management/Political Economy from International Academy of Management & Economics (I.AME) based in Makati City, PH. He has also completed coursework at Harvard, University of Notre Dame, and Tsinghua University (China). He has multiple memberships on editorial and review boards, relationships with professional associations, and additional academic certifications.
Personally, Dr. Haberek resides in NorthEast, MD. He has two wonderful daughters Nicole & Olivia who live with their Mom in Connecticut. He is also CEO & Founder of GetFortitude LLC, a certified Life Coach, Transformation Coach and Personal Trainer, competitive Master’s Natural Bodybuilder and enjoys travel, writing, blogging, and avid informational junkie.
